-We now have 45 due paying members, we are so AWESOME!!! Just take a look and see for yourself.
Now on to Guild News:
-The STLMQG now has a checking account; which will make it easier to receive dues in the future.
-All future roster editions will be emailed to the due-paying members as needed.
-Our next STLMQG Member Spotlight shines on Cindy Lammon. You can read all about her here…or just scroll down 2 posts. Remember, if you would like to have the spotlight shine on you, please contact Mary Claire, who will get you on the list.
-If you haven’t already checked it out, the next Project Modern Challenge was posted this Wednesday. You can read all about it on the Modern Quilt Guild’s site. Mary Claire was one of the winners from Project Modern Challenge: 1…you could be a winner in Round 2.
-Jamie Mueller gave us an excellent presentation entitled “Modern Quilting in the Online World”. You can see the PowerPoint here and if you need a copy of the handout, it’s here. I really would encourage you to use Jamie’s presentation to become more familiar with Flickr. We are not kidding when we say that it is an entire world of inspiration…that literally is just a click away. Thanks Again Jamie!!!

-First up is a Pincushion Swap. All members who would like to participate need to make a modern-type pincushion and bring it to the February meeting at Oakbend Library. You’ll then show off your “pinnie” and we’ll play a game to determine who takes home which one. If you are new to pincushions, would like to try something different or want to see the crazy and imaginative things people do, please check out the PinCushion Swap 2011 post that Mary Claire wrote. It will link you to tons of pics, tutorials, etc.
-Next on our list is the Solids Only Challenge that we teased way back in December. Today we revealed the rules and surprised all due-paying members with a Charm Pack, graciously provided by Robert Kaufman Fabrics. You can find a link to the instructions, faq, etc on the Challenge tab at the top of every page and I’ve created a discussion thread on Flickr too. Even if you have the directions, I would suggest you check out the page ever so often as we’ll post related news there.
*If you are a due-paying member and weren’t at the January meeting, you can pick up your charm pack at February’s meeting if you choose to play.
-In February, we’ll host a panel discussion asking What is Modern Quilting? If you would like to be one of the panelists, you must have a clear understanding of the topic and be able to bring with you fabric, quilts, etc which can help explain this style to our membership. Please contact me if you are interested as I’ll be selecting the panelists next Friday.
-We also are looking for volunteers. Could that be you? Do you have a quilting method, skill, shortcut, block piecing, machine-quilting, skill that you'd like to demonstrate? Send me a message, as we'll be hosting a Demo Day in March and several Demo sessions throughout the year.
Thanks Everyone!!!
