- Gayle, our Treasurer, gave us the updated financial info.
- Krista, our Secretary, announced our membership numbers and passed out our new MQG membership cards and pins.
- Marie, our VP, announced several pieces of quilting news and happenings (more about these will be sent via email).
- Jessica, our President, covered several items:
- The hand-sew happy hours and location for the entire year have been posted to the blog. This month's meet-up will be on Tuesday, May 22.
- SewMeSTL is going to be three days of fun this year (October 5-7)! Info on hotel rates and how to reserve has been sent via email.
- There are still a few spots available in next month's workshops with Latifah Saafir. You can find more information about the trunk show and workshops here and register for the workshops here (members) or here (non-members).
- The Member Swap and Challenge Committee's 2018 Colors of the Year Challenge, celebrating Pantone Ultra Violet and Kona Tiger Lily, is still going on. You can find all of the details here.
- QuiltCon 2019 hotels are now available for reservation. Member registration for lectures and workshops will take place June 26. Watch for emails from the MQG with more info.
- Jessica announced the next Rainbow Block of the Month (BOM) Challenge color -- orange. Red-orange will not be a color we use this year, so this month can include all shades of orange other than yellow-orange (which we've already done). You can find all of the details here.
- Kate Steele of Nurses for Newborns joined us for a brief presentation about the wonderful charity we're contributing to this year. The Charity Committee also collected 58 quilts to give to Kate! There will be a second collection in November. You can find all of the details here.
- For this month's activity, we enjoyed a fabulous Show and Tell of vintage quilts from the collections of many of our members. We loved hearing the stories behind the quilts, as well as seeing the inspiration many modern quilters have taken from these designs. Thank you to everyone who shared!
- Marie collected 112 blocks for our second Block Lotto round, another great response. The winners were already displaying their blocks on Instagram after the meeting. Congrats, Kim and Laura!
- Marie also announced the details for our third Block Lotto round, which is a more complicated star block. You can find all of the details here. These blocks will be due in August.
- We wrapped up the meeting with a great Show and Tell. Keep an eye on our Instagram page to see lots more pics of the meeting, show and tell, and our members' projects throughout the month.
Remember that we don't have a regular meeting next month because of Latifah Saafir's visit, but we hope to see lots of you at the workshops and trunk show. The details on her visit can be found here. Be sure to invite your friends to the trunk show, which is open to the public. See you in July!
